1. Introduction
Welcome to Iqra – Verse Gate (“Iqra”, “we”, “our”, or “us”). Iqra helps you build consistent Quran-reading habits by gently gating distracting apps with a short, beautiful verse overlay. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data the app handles and how.
2. What We Collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers.
- No account: Iqra does not require you to create an account or provide personal details.
- No identifiers: We do not collect device IDs, advertising IDs, or analytics identifiers.
- No network calls for personal data: The app is designed to work offline with a local verse database.
All preferences (e.g., selected locked apps, display duration) are stored locally on your device.
3. How the App Works (On-Device Processing)
Iqra detects when a user opens a selected app and briefly shows an on-device Quran verse overlay. After reading, you can tap Continue to App to proceed. All logic runs on your device; nothing is uploaded to our servers.
4. App Permissions & Why We Need Them
- Display over other apps (draw over apps): Required to show the verse overlay above selected apps.
- Usage access (app usage stats): Required to detect when a locked app is opened. Usage data never leaves your device.
- Notifications (optional): Used for gentle reminders or future features; can be disabled anytime.
Iqra does not access your photos, contacts, location, microphone, or camera.
5. How We Use Information
Since we do not collect personal data, we do not use, share, sell, or rent your personal information. Local settings are used solely to operate core features (e.g., which apps are gated and for how long).
6. Third-Party Services & SDKs
Iqra does not include advertising SDKs and does not use third-party analytics that track you. If we ever link to external resources (e.g., help pages), those sites are governed by their own privacy policies.
7. Data Storage & Retention
All app data (preferences, verse display options, locked-app selections) is stored locally on your device. Uninstalling the app removes local data. We do not maintain server copies of your data.
8. Security
We design Iqra to minimize data collection and keep everything on-device. Please protect your device with a strong passcode and keep your operating system up to date.
9. Children’s Privacy
Iqra is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
10. Your Choices
- Permissions: You can revoke permissions anytime in your device settings.
- Notifications: You can turn notifications on or off in system settings.
- Uninstall: You can remove the app to delete local data stored by Iqra.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version within the app or on our website. Please review this page periodically for changes. The “Effective Date” above reflects the latest update.
